Become proficient quickly at your musical instrument: focus your practice on the harder bits of a tune that you find difficult. Although this is frustrating and it is tempting to play the easy bits and gloss over what you cannot do, you will only progress if you try the harder stuff. In the long run you will benefit. Just don't ask relatives to listen in during the short term!
